Riddells Creek
Blocked, burst or leaking in Riddells Creek?
Blocked drains, burst pipes and leaks in Riddells Creek, from the station to the bushland lots on the town edge, passed to a licensed plumber day and night.
Plumbing in Riddells Creek
From railway village to commuter town
Victorian Places links the town's growth to Sunbury becoming a satellite town and to the freeway, and says the population nearly tripled between the mid seventies and the mid nineties. Most housing is late twentieth century, so PVC drains are likely, with earlier earthenware near the old railway village and root entry at joints more likely than collapse.
When the station carpark was built, Greater Western Water replaced the sewer pipes beneath the street outside it, a main serving the homes around it. That main is the corporation's, so a blockage past the property connection is its job, and new connection points can be expected along there.
The structure plan set mandatory minimum lot sizes for the Rural Bushland precincts, where little change is planned. Runs from house to street or to an onsite system are long there, so the line and its discharge point are located before a price, and shared drains are rare.

Riddells Creek questions
Council relining and a precinct still being planned
Will council drain relining affect a house connection?
It might. The council is renewing stormwater drains in two courts using a trenchless Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining method instead of digging. Property connections into those drains can be cut back and reopened, so a connection is checked for free flow after the works.
What should a new lot in the growth precinct check first?
During consultation on the precinct, since approved for urban development, the council asked for more time to engage with Melbourne Water around drainage infrastructure. Stormwater there will feed works still being designed, so the approved legal point of discharge and any easements are confirmed before a connection.
Is every property on the town sewer?
Not always. Some larger lots may still drain to an onsite system rather than the sewer, so which one a property has is established before any drain job is priced.
