Beveridge
Blocked, burst or leaking in Beveridge?
Blocked drains, burst pipes and leaks in Beveridge, from the volcanic cone of Mount Fraser to the estate across the freeway, passed to a licensed plumber day and night.
Plumbing in Beveridge
An old village, a new estate and scoria underfoot
The village grew little for a hundred years, until the opening of a housing estate west of the freeway in the 2000s. So the town splits in two: older village homes likely on older drains, and the estate on modern plastic pipe. What is under one side of the freeway says little about the other.
North of the township is the volcanic cone of Mount Fraser, its slopes cut by a scoria quarry. Scoria and basalt in a trench slow the digging, so boring or relining is weighed against an open trench.

Two eras either side of the freeway
Blocked drains
Older village drains on one side of the freeway, newer estate pipe on the other.
Pipe relining
A lining where scoria and basalt would make a trench slow work.
CCTV drain inspection
A camera to show which era of pipe is in the ground before a price is given.
What it costs: hot water replacement cost, gutter replacement cost, toilet installation cost
Beveridge questions
Station archaeology, rock and on-site wastewater
Does a trench near the old station need approval?
It may. The Victorian Heritage Inventory lists the former station complex, with a platform's remains and possible sub-surface deposits of a goods platform and two passenger platforms. A drain or water service trench there may need Heritage Victoria consent, so lead time is allowed.
Is my house on sewer or an on-site system?
Worth checking first. Council has proposed rezoning some township land to low density lots, and larger lots like those often rely on on-site wastewater, which is pumped out rather than jetted.
Why does a drain in a newer estate block?
Usually builder's debris or a joint that was poorly bedded, rather than roots. A camera shows which before anything is dug up.
